We ride horses for the pleasure of creating beauty. Hozho – is a construct that refers to being in beauty. Weaselskin is a beautiful place and a place we strive to create the interconnectedness and harmony in all things physical and spiritual that results in health and wellbeing for horse and human alike.
We view horses as equal partners in a conversation not slaves to our domination or coercion.
Classical riding is an educational method which strives towards a perfect harmony between horse and rider by creating a dialogue between two bodies and two souls. The goal is to achieve a seemingly effortless action with the horse and rider as one. A love for Iberian horses is also helpful. Our Lipizzan and Andalusians will give nobility without pride, friendship without envy, and beauty without vanity. Our horses are ideal companions for assisting you in rediscovering whole life balance, relationship skills, and contentment of heart in the broken modern world.

Beginnings With Lynda and Weaselskin Equestrian Center
In 1989, I was very fortunate to acquire my first Lipizzan mare, whose name was Lynda—Spanish for
“beautiful.” At the time, the significance of her name didn’t occur to me. Lynda’s arrival in Durango
accelerated the founding of Weaselskin Equestrian Center, marking a serendipitous beginning to my
story. This journey centers on developing beautifully athletic Iberian horses, embracing and teaching the
elegance of classical dressage and its practical application across equestrian pursuits, conserving a
uniquely beautiful property, and helping others discover “Hozho”—a form of beauty that is essential to
all lives.
The Enduring Relevance of La Gueriniere’s Wisdom
La Gueriniere once said, “we ride horses for the pleasure of ‘creating beauty,’” and his words resonate
deeply with those of us fortunate enough to have Lipizzans and to follow the teachings of this Master
Ecuyer. He might be surprised that his insights remain as significant in the 21 st century as they were in
the 17 th . The desire for the pleasure of beauty in life has endured for more than 400 years. Yet the ability
to truly perceive, create, and embody beauty has transformed over time. Weaselskin exists to restore
beauty to the lives of those who find it lacking.
Learning From Iberian Horses
When I began owning and breeding Lipizzans and Andalusians, I was determined to show that the
beauty of these athletes was more than superficial—that they could excel in any equestrian discipline.
Initially, I believed I simply needed beautiful athletic horses. Over time, I realized that I also needed to
learn a beautiful way to communicate with these Iberian horses in their own native language—a
language that is simple, logical, and aligned with the Iberian intellect.
The Horses as Teachers
My horses became my instructors in that unique language. The gentler and fluid I became, the more
beautiful and athletic our rides turned out to be. Eventually, the horses taught me that this beautiful
process was more valuable when shared with others searching for beauty in their lives, rather than
simply pursuing ribbons and trophies.
Bringing Beauty into the Lives of Others
Today, I recognize that La Gueriniere’s teachings apply to mentoring at-risk youth, supporting autistic
youth in developing emotional intelligence, and providing hope and guidance to those seeking balance
and beauty in their lives. The fact that Lipizzan horses deliver this wisdom is an added gift, as students
often sense there is something special about these teachers. Horses, in general, are the best teachers
and reflect our shortcomings because of their generous nature. However, when Iberian horses are
included alongside our other school horses, students remark that the “white horses” bring a unique and
intelligent energy to each moment. They call it special; I call it beautiful.
